Swim Lessons Day 1

    The girls started their swim lessons today with Glendy of Glendy's Waterbabies.  The class focuses on water safety, and how a two year old can survive if he/she falls into the water.  It's definitely hard to watch, but I also felt a sense of relief.  It took Glendy 30 seconds to figure out my girls' personalities and their learning styles.  She called Claire "The Negotiator" (I wonder who she inherited that trait from).  Little did Mrs. Glendy know that while Claire was watching Natalie in the pool, Claire kept telling me that she was going to swim by herself, she didn't need a teacher.  Claire even used the "girl who cried poop" trick but Glendy knew better.   As of five o'clock today, I'm still waiting for Claire to go #2. 
    Natalie did cry just about the entire time, but she was actually more comfortable in the water and her body was more relaxed.  Claire showed signs of panic by putting her hands to her face, which is one of the reasons little ones drown because it weighs their heads down.  Glendy said that is one of the big things she will work on with Claire.  Claire did seem to listen and take a lot in though and flapped her arms when told.   Oh, and the cutest thing happened.  Glendy kept asking Natalie to do things, and what did my polite, southern child do?  She repeatedly told Mrs. Glendy "No ma'am".  I was so proud of her.  She was completely upset but she still remembered her manners! :)

Yay, books and backpacks!

The girls and I have found heaven on Earth.  It's air conditioned, mentally stimulating, and relaxing.  It's the Kingwood library.  This brand new library has these neat elephant chairs, computers for tots, and shopping carts for the kiddos to place their books in, or in our case, for the girls to pile their tons of books in.  I ended up having to give a third back to the librarian because I couldn't carry that many out to the car.  Here are some very blurry pics from my phone from our first visit.

A little bit of Easter

I am so behind with just about everything these days.  Here's a scrapbook page about our family Easter hunt in the backyard.

Tomorrow, I'm going to brave the library by myself with the girls.  They are really loving books this week, well actually, they are now sitting still long enough for me to read a few books at a time.  I've been telling them all week that we would go to the library, and they are so excited.  My friend let me borrow her "monkey backpacks" which translate into cute, cuddly leash/harnesses.  They wore them for the first time today at my doctor's appointment.  Natalie would forget that she was harnessed and would run full speed away from me, but the harness would act like a bungee cord and she would spring back (sometimes right onto her backside).  I think she liked it because she would always give me a "Natalie smile" and get back on her feet and try it again.

It's Birthday time...

Yesterday was our cousin Bailey's birthday party.  The party was at Discover Gymnastics in Houston, and the girls were really overwhelmed at first.  After 15 minutes and a few practice jumps while holding on to mommy and daddy, they started to warm up.  They were absolutely champion jumpers (they get plenty of practice at home in their beds unfortunately).  Bailey was a beautiful birthday girl, and we were so glad we got to be there for her big day!

I ended up getting a lot of photo opportunities of Claire, mainly because she was with me and Natalie was with David.  Natalie also wasn't acting herself.  Later that night, she came down with a stomach bug.  She is feeling better today and gave me a great big "Happy Mother's Day!" greeting this morning.

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Today was our annual KAMOM Easter egg hunt at the local Montessori school's playground.  It was the perfect place for an egg hunt with play equipment for every age, a sandbox, and a bathroom.  Claire was happy in the sandbox the entire party ,and Natalie was busy trying to fill her basket with eggs and then lug her basket all over the playground.  The Easter bunny made an appearance and Natalie was content being near it after some encouragement.  Claire also would get pretty close but she was definitely nervous.  Her hands would shoot up to her mouth and she would start biting her nails when the bunny was in site.
