I am going to embark on this 52 week blog project, created by a friend of a friend.  There is an assigned theme each week, and I will make a blog post that pertains to this theme.  If you want to participate, you can sign up here.  It will be fun to see how we all interpret the theme differently.  I can't wait to make my blog a photo book one day, and this will be a great way to journal the next year.  The timing couldn't be better. The first week of this project coincides with my twins' first week as 3 year olds!

Happy 3rd Birthday Baby Girls!

Here are pics from the girls' birthday party at Wonderwild.  They were so excited about this party, that it became a great motivator for weeks.  "Girls, we have to pick up so mommy can work on your birthday party stuff."  "Girls, you will need to take a nap so you aren't tired for your birthday party this weekend."  David and I had so much fun preparing for it.  I think he actually enjoyed Hobby Lobby.  Best of all were the smiles that Claire and Natalie had before, during, and that whole next week after the party.  Oh, and the music to this video is Claire's voice recorded and put through an iphone app.  I could listen to it every day.

My two page layouts

I really admire Yin Designs scrapbooking style.  She does two page layouts, and they are simple but beautiful.  I think she described it as a simplistic magazine style.  I think I'm going to try scrapbooking this way at least for now.  Here's another one of mine (all the pictures are by Lauren's wedding photographer, Danny Klimetz, at her rehearsal dinner).  The dinner had a Tennessee theme and featured the famous Tennessee whiskey, Jack Daniels.

Happy 4th of July!

Thanks Jen Jen for visiting us for the 4th of July.  We loved having you here with us.  I think we spent the entire weekend at our house.  Nothing like a slow weekend after an exhausting week of work.  The girls loved their new baby pool with a slide.  I'm pretty sure their toesies looked like raisins for the better part of the holiday.  They love being outside and in the water.

Happy Father's Day!  Our family could not be where we are today without the wonderful fathers in our life.  To Ah-bee, Poppa, Gran, Grandfather, and David: my family wouldn't be where we are right now without you all.  We love you!


I gave the girls the chance to pick out their own coloring sheet for David's Father's Day gift.  Once they saw the ties, they were so excited.  I love how each girl decorated their own sheet.  Their own personalities and styles are so evident with their coloring.  Natalie also colored the entire backside too.

Covington Part Two

We also went to visit David's grandmother, Granny, at her senior living center.  There was a jazz band that was playing when we arrived and the girls stole the show. 

We also went to the Covington farmers' market at the Trailhead.  The girls also enjoyed banjo music from musicians and running on the grassy area by the concert stage.  Once again, I had two little dancers on my hands that twirled so much that mommy got dizzy just from watching.

Shugga and Poppa's House

The girls are 2 months away from their 3rd birthday, and I can finally say that the latest trek from Houston to Louisiana was not miserable!  It's still hard at times.  Like the time we had to stop for the potty at Wendy's and as I'm herding the twins into the bathroom stalls, Natalie keeps sticking her head under the partitions and repeatedly looks up at the person in the stall next to me.  I was horrified for that person, Natalie, and also for myself.  But...it was not as scary as the previous trips.  The girls are FINALLY listening to me.  They don't run off and stick with me in a parking lot.  This step is HUGE for parents of multiples.  I can see the light :)  Anyways, we celebrated David's birthday in Covington with Poppa, Sugar, and Jennifer.  We did have to cut the birthday dinner short due to lack of naps for Natalie and Claire.  I even broke my rule and gave Natalie her bubby (pacifier) at the restuarant table.  I desperately wished I had a shirt that read "Don't Judge" at that moment in time.  In fact, I wish for that shirt more often than I admit. 

We also went out to the Mayronne ranch, where Poppa grew up.  The first thing Natalie said when she got out of the car and saw the wide open land was, "Wow, Daddy. I wanna run!". 

Natalie was cracking us up with her ability to fake pout.  She would turn her back to us with arms crossed and walk away a few steps.  Then she would slowly turn her head and look back at us to make sure we were watching her pout.  Then she would repeat.  She did this for about a half football field length.  She sure is a great actress.
